Stop relying on tabs! Learn the names of the notes on the fretboard to unlock true freedom on the guitar.
Memorize the 5th and 12th frets first. The 12th fret is the octave (same note as open string).
Find the same note 2 strings down and 2 frets up (e.g., 3rd fret E string = 5th fret D string).
Focus on natural notes (A, B, C...) first. Sharps and flats fall in between them.
